Vespa Teams Up With Bono and Bobby Shriver’s RED Association to Assist People With Disease
The elegant Vespa Elettirca gets a new appearance shrouding its electric heart in bold RED to assist people with AIDS or develop pandemic illnesses like COVID-19.
Since 2017, Piaggio, the Vespa Elettrica manufacture, joined forces with U2 front-man Bono and Bobby Shriver’s RED Association for the third time. RED has raised funds to build and support healthcare systems and life-saving programs in Ghana, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Kenya, Tanzania, and Zambia. Piaggio produced in partnership with RED, a limited edition Vespa 946 RED in 2017, and again in 2020 with Vespa Primavera RED.
The special edition comes in sumptuous metallic red paint aside from its rubber parts and chrome accents. A lightweight and small frame make the Elettrica a perfect urban commuter bike. The Vespa Elettrica allows Vespitas to cruise through city streets quickly and in a whisper while minimizing their carbon footprint.
The motor scooter features a reverse button, a welcome addition, making it easier to manage when on slopes. The lithium-ion battery can quickly be charged by connecting the under-seat cable to public charging stations or electrical outlets.
All the riding information the rider needs, including trip statistics, is displayed on the digital color dashboard. Riders can connect through Bluetooth to the Vespa MIA multi-media app, turning the scooter’s display and handlebar controls into an extension of their smartphone.
In Europe, the Elettrica RED 4kW, 32 mph (45 km/hour) motor is the maximum permitted power for mopeds, exempting buyers from yearly road taxation.
Vespa will donate one hundred dollars from every purchase of a Vespa Elettica RED directly to Global Fund, benefiting the fight against pandemics like AIDS and COVID. More info HERE
